[ASV]Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

[ASV]And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field.
3[和合本]于是希勒家的儿子家宰以利亚敬，并书记舍伯那和亚萨的儿子史官约亚，出来见拉伯沙基。

[ASV]And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
5[和合本]你说，有打仗的计谋和能力，我看不过是虚话。你到底倚靠谁才背叛我呢？

[WEB]I say that your counsel and strength for the war are only vain words. Now in whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
[ASV]I say, thy counsel and strength for the war are but vain words: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
6[和合本]看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那压伤的苇杖，人若靠这杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。
[拼音]kàn nǎ，nǐ suǒ yǐ kào de āi jí，shì nà yā shāng de wěi zhàng，rén ruò kào zhè zhàng， jìu bì cì tòu tā de shǒu。āi jí wáng fǎ lǎo xiàng yī qiè yǐ kào tā de rén，yě shì zhè yàng。
[WEB]Behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
[ASV]Behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust on him.
7[和合本]你若对我说：我们倚靠耶和华我们的上帝。希西家岂不是将上帝的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说，你们当在这坛前敬拜吗？

[WEB]But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar?’”
[ASV]But if thou say unto me, We trust in Jehovah our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
8[和合本]现在你把当头给我主亚述王，我给你二千匹马，看你这一面骑马的人够不够。

9[和合本]若不然，怎能打败我主臣仆中最小的军长呢？你竟倚靠埃及的战车马兵吗？

10[和合本]现在我上来攻击毁灭这地，岂没有耶和华的意思吗？耶和华吩咐我说，你上去攻击毁灭这地吧！’”

11[和合本]以利亚敬、舍伯那、约亚对拉伯沙基说：“求你用亚兰言语和仆人说话，因为我们懂得；不要用犹大言语和我们说话，达到城上百姓的耳中。”

[WEB]Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it; and don’t speak to us in the Jews’ language in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”
[ASV]Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
12[和合本]拉伯沙基说：“我主差遣我来，岂是单对你和你的主说这些话吗？不也是对这些坐在城上、要与你们一同吃自己粪、喝自己尿的人说吗？”

[ASV]But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
13[和合本]于是拉伯沙基站着，用犹大言语大声喊着说：“你们当听亚述大王的话。

14[和合本]王如此说：‘你们不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你们。

[WEB]Thus says the king, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you.
[ASV]Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you:
15[和合本]也不要听希西家使你们倚靠耶和华说：耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。’

[ASV]neither let Hezekiah make you trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
16[和合本]不要听希西家的话，因亚述王如此说：‘你们要与我和好，出来投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水。

[ASV]Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
17[和合本]等我来领你们到一个地方，与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地。
