[niv] We accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.
[asv] If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for the witness of God is this, that he hath borne witness concerning his Son.
[jnd] If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God he has witnessed concerning his Son.

[niv] Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.
[asv] He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son.

5:16
[cbgb] 人若看见弟兄犯了不至于死的罪，就当为他祈求，　神必将生命赐给他。有至于死的罪，我不说当为这罪祈求。 < | >
[niv] If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.
[asv] If any man see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: not concerning this do I say that he should make request.
[jnd] If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.

[jnd] We know that every one begotten of God does not sin, but he that has been begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked does not touch him.
