[niv] Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and articles of value, as well as fortified cities in Judah, but he had given the kingdom to Jehoram because he was his firstborn son.

[asv] And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

[niv] Nevertheless, because of the covenant the LORD had made with David, the LORD was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.
[asv] Howbeit Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children alway.

[niv] In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.

[niv] So Jehoram went there with his officers and all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night.

[asv] And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

21:13
[cbgb] 乃行以色列诸王的道,使犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民行邪淫,像亚哈家一样,又杀了你父家比你好的诸兄弟。 < | >
[niv] But you have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and you have led Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab did. You have also murdered your own brothers, members of your father's house, men who were better than you.
[asv] but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot, like as the house of Ahab did, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, who were better than thyself:
[jnd] but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, like the fornications of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren, thy father's house who were better than thyself:
[kjv] But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:
[nwb] But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit idolatry, like the idolatries of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, better than thyself:
[rsv] but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness, as the house of Ahab led Israel into unfaithfulness, and also you have killed your brothers, of your father's house, who were better than yourself;

[ylt] and thou dost walk in the way of the kings of Israel, and dost cause Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom like the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also thy brethren, the house of thy father, who are better than thyself, thou hast slain;
[bbe] But have gone in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the people of Jerusalem go after false gods, as the family of Ahab did: and because you have put to death your father's sons, your brothers, who were better than yourself:
21:14
[cbgb] 故此,耶和华降大灾与你的百姓和你的妻子,儿女,并你一切所有的。 < | >
[niv] So now the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow.
[asv] behold, Jehovah will smite with a great plague thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy substance;

[rsv] behold, the LORD will bring a great plague on your people, your children, your wives, and all your possessions,

[bbe] Now, truly, the Lord will send a great destruction on your people and your children and your wives and everything which is yours:

[niv] You yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.'"
[asv] and thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.
[jnd] and thyself with sore sicknesses, with a disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

[bbe] And you yourself will undergo the cruel pains of a disease in your stomach, so that day by day your inside will be falling out because of the disease.
21:16

[niv] The LORD aroused against Jehoram the hostility of the Philistines and of the Arabs who lived near the Cushites.
[asv] And Jehovah stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians that are beside the Ethiopians:
[jnd] And Jehovah stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who near the Ethiopians;
[kjv] Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:

[rsv] And the LORD stirred up against Jeho'ram the anger of the Philistines and of the Arabs who are near the Ethiopians;

[ylt] And Jehovah waketh up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who beside the Cushim,
[bbe] Then the Philistines and the Arabians, who are by Ethiopia, were moved by the Lord to make war on Jehoram;
