[niv] Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
[asv] whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.

[niv] For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
[asv] Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;
[jnd] But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge,
[kjv] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

[niv] For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[asv] For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[jnd] for these things existing and abounding in you make to be neither idle nor unfruitful as regards the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[kjv] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

[cbgb] 人若没有这几样，就是眼瞎，只看见近处的，忘了他旧日的罪已经得了洁净。 < | >
[niv] But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
[asv] For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
[jnd] for he with whom these things are not present is blind, short-sighted, and has forgotten the purging of his former sins.
[kjv] But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

[niv] Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,
[asv] Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:

[niv] and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
[asv] for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
[jnd] for thus shall the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be richly furnished unto you.
[kjv] For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

[cbgb] 你们虽然晓得这些事，并且在你们已有的真道上坚固，我却要将这些事常常题醒你们。 < | >
[niv] So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
[asv] Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.
[jnd] Wherefore I will be careful to put you always in mind of these things, although knowing and established in the present truth.
[kjv] Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

[niv] I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body,
[asv] And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

[niv] because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
[asv] knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.
[jnd] knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle is speedily , as also our Lord Jesus Christ has manifested to me;
[kjv] Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

[niv] And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
[asv] Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.

[niv] We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[asv] For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[jnd] For we have not made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, following cleverly imagined fables, but having been eyewitnesses of *his* majesty.

[niv] For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."
[asv] For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:
[jnd] For he received from God Father honour and glory, such a voice being uttered to him by the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom *I* have found my delight;

[niv] We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
[asv] and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.

[cbgb] 我们并有先知更确的豫言，如同灯照在暗处。你们在这豫言上留意，直等到天发亮晨星在你们心里出现的时候，才是好的。 < | >
[niv] And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
[asv] And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:
[jnd] And we have the prophetic word surer, to which ye do well taking heed (as to a lamp shining in an obscure place) until day dawn and morning star arise in your hearts;
[kjv] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
[nwb] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:

[niv] Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.
[asv] knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.

[niv] For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
[asv] For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
[jnd] for prophecy was not ever uttered by will of man, but holy men of God spake under the power of Holy Spirit.
[kjv] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
