[niv] See now, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water,
[asv] For, behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water;

[niv] the captain of fifty and man of rank, the counselor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter.
[asv] the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the expert artificer, and the skilful enchanter.

[niv] A man will seize one of his brothers at his father's home, and say, "You have a cloak, you be our leader; take charge of this heap of ruins!"

[niv] Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence.

[niv] The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

[niv] Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.

[niv] Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.
[asv] Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him; for what his hands have done shall be done unto him.

[niv] The LORD enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: "It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses.
[asv] Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses:

[niv] What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?" declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.

[bbe] By what right are you crushing my people, and putting a bitter yoke on the necks of the poor? This is the word of the Lord, the Lord of armies.

[cbgb] 耶和华又说,因为锡安的女子狂傲,行走挺项,卖弄眼目,俏步徐行,脚下玎铛。 < | >
[niv] The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles.
[asv] Moreover Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet;
[jnd] And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet;

[niv] Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald."

[niv] In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces,
[asv] In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents;

[niv] Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding.
[asv] And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet spices there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty.

[bbe] And in the place of sweet spices will be an evil smell, and for a fair band a thick cord; for a well-dressed head there will be the cutting-off of the hair, and for a beautiful robe there will be the clothing of sorrow; the mark of the prisoner in place of the ornaments of the free.
