[niv] For I knew how stubborn you were; the sinews of your neck were iron, your forehead was bronze.

[niv] Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, `My idols did them; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.'
[asv] therefore I have declared it to thee from of old; before it came to pass I showed it thee; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

[niv] You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? "From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.

[niv] They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, `Yes, I knew of them.'

[niv] You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ear has not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.
[asv] Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from of old thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou didst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

[niv] For my own name's sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to cut you off.
[asv] For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

[niv] "Come near me and listen to this: "From the first announcement I have not spoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there." And now the Sovereign LORD has sent me, with his Spirit.
[asv] Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; from the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and his Spirit.

[niv] This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
[asv] Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
[jnd] Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee for profit, who leadeth thee in the way that thou shouldest go.

[cbgb] 甚愿你素来听从我的命令，你的平安就如河水，你的公义就如海浪。 < | >
[niv] If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
[asv] Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
[jnd] Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then would thy peace have been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea;

[cbgb] 你的后裔也必多如海沙，你腹中所生的也必多如沙粒。他的名在我面前必不剪除，也不灭绝。 < | >
[niv] Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be cut off nor destroyed from before me."
[asv] thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the grains thereof: his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.
[jnd] and thy seed would have been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof: their name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
