[niv] But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
[asv] And when the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
[jnd] And the vessel that he made was marred, as clay, in the hand of the potter; and he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make.

[niv] "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
[asv] O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel.

[bbe] O Israel, am I not able to do with you as this potter does? says the Lord. See, like earth in the potter's hand are you in my hands, O Israel.
18:7

[niv] If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed,
[asv] At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;
[jnd] At the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy,
[kjv] At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

[cbgb] 我所说的那一邦，若是转意离开他们的恶，我就必后悔，不将我想要施行的灾祸降与他们。 < | >
[niv] and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned.
[asv] if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

[cbgb] 他们若行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就必后悔，不将我所说的福气赐给他们。 < | >
[niv] and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.
[asv] if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

18:11

[niv] "Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, `This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.'
[asv] Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
[jnd] And now, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I prepare evil against you, and devise a device against you: turn ye then every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.

[ylt] And now, speak, I pray thee, unto men of Judah, And against inhabitants of Jerusalem, Saying: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am framing against you evil, And devising against you a device, Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way And amen your ways and your doings.
[bbe] Now, then, say to the men of Judah and to the people of Jerusalem, This is what the Lord has said: See, I am forming an evil thing against you, and designing a design against you: let every man come back now from his evil way, and let your ways and your doings be changed for the better.
18:12

[niv] But they will reply, `It's no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.'"
[asv] But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart.
[jnd] But they say, There is no hope; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will each one do the stubbornness of his evil heart.
[kjv] And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

[rsv] "But they say, 'That is in vain! We will follow our own plans, and will every one act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.'

[ylt] And they have said, It is incurable, For after our own devices we do go, And each the stubbornness of his evil heart we do.
[bbe] But they will say, There is no hope: we will go on in our designs, and every one of us will do what he is moved by the pride of his evil heart to do.

[bbe] So this is what the Lord has said: Make search among the nations and see who has had word of such things; the virgin of Israel has done a very shocking thing.
18:14

[niv] Does the snow of Lebanon ever vanish from its rocky slopes? Do its cool waters from distant sources ever cease to flow?
[asv] Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? or shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?
[jnd] Shall the snow of Lebanon cease from the rock of the field? Shall the cool flowing waters coming from afar be dried up?
[kjv] Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
[nwb] Will leave the snow of Lebanon from the rock of the field? shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
[rsv] Does the snow of Lebanon leave the crags of Si'rion? Do the mountain waters run dry, the cold flowing streams?

[bbe] Will the white snow go away from the top of Sirion? will the cold waters flowing from the mountains become dry?

[niv] Yet my people have forgotten me; they burn incense to worthless idols, which made them stumble in their ways and in the ancient paths. They made them walk in bypaths and on roads not built up.
[asv] For my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to false gods; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths, in a way not cast up;

[bbe] For my people have put me out of their memory, burning perfumes to that which is nothing; and because of this, I will put a cause of falling in their ways, even in the old roads, and will make them go on side-roads, in a way not lifted up;

[niv] They said, "Come, let's make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not be lost, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let's attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says."
[asv] Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

[niv] So give their children over to famine; hand them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives be made childless and widows; let their men be put to death, their young men slain by the sword in battle.
