[niv] His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

[niv] When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.
[asv] And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt-offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

[ylt] and it cometh to pass, when they have gone round the days of the banquet, that Job doth send and sanctify them, and hath risen early in the morning, and caused to ascend burnt-offerings -- the number of them all -- for Job said, `Perhaps my sons have sinned, yet blessed God in their heart.' Thus doth Job all the days.
[bbe] And at the end of their days of feasting, Job sent and made them clean, getting up early in the morning and offering burned offerings for them all. For, Job said, It may be that my sons have done wrong and said evil of God in their hearts. And Job did this whenever the feasts came round.

[niv] One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them.
[asv] Now it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them.

[niv] The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."
[asv] And Jehovah said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered Jehovah, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
[jnd] And Jehovah said to Satan, Whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

[ylt] And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Whence comest thou?' And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, `From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down on it.'
[bbe] And the Lord said to the Satan, Where do you come from? And the Satan said in answer, From wandering this way and that on the earth, and walking about on it.

[cbgb] 耶和华问撒但说,你曾用心察看我的仆人约伯没有。地上再没有人像他完全正直,敬畏 神,远离恶事。 < | >
[niv] Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."
[asv] And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil.
[jnd] And Jehovah said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God and abstaineth from evil?

[web] . Yahweh said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil."
[ylt] And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Hast thou set thy heart against My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God, and turning aside from evil?'
[bbe] And the Lord said to the Satan, Have you taken note of my servant Job, for there is no one like him on the earth, a man without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil?

[niv] "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied.
[asv] Then Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

[ylt] And the Adversary answereth Jehovah and saith, `For nought is Job fearing God?
[bbe] And the Satan said in answer to the Lord, Is it for nothing that Job is a god-fearing man?

[cbgb] 你岂不是四面圈上篱笆,围护他和他的家,并他一切所有的麽?他手所做的都蒙你赐福。他的家产也在地上增多。 < | >
[niv] "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.
[asv] Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath, on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
[jnd] Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is spread abroad in the land.

[cbgb] 你且伸手毁他一切所有的。他必当面弃掉你。 < | >
[niv] But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."
[asv] But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will renounce thee to thy face.

[niv] The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
[asv] And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah.

[ylt] And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary, `Lo, all that he hath in thy hand, only unto him put not forth thy hand.' And the Adversary goeth out from the presence of Jehovah.
[bbe] And the Lord said to the Satan, See, I give all he has into your hands, only do not put a finger on the man himself. And the Satan went out from before the Lord.

[jnd] And there came a messenger to Job and said, The oxen were ploughing, and the asses feeding beside them;

[cbgb] 示巴人忽然闯来,把牲畜掳去,并用刀杀了仆人。惟有我一人逃脱,来报信给你。 < | >
[niv] and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
[asv] and the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away: yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
[jnd] and Sheba fell and took them, and the servants have they smitten with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

[niv] While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
[asv] While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
[jnd] While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

[bbe] And this one was still talking when another came, and said, The fire of God came down from heaven, burning up the sheep and the goats and the young men completely, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.

[cbgb] 他还说话的时候,又有人来说,迦勒底人分作三队忽然闯来,把骆驼掳去,并用刀杀了仆人。惟有我一人逃脱,来报信给你。 < | >
[niv] While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
[asv] While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have taken them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
[jnd] While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, The Chaldeans made three bands, and fell upon the camels and took them, and the servants have they smitten with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

[ylt] While this is speaking another also hath come and saith, `Chaldeans made three heads, and rush on the camels, and take them, and the young men they have smitten by the mouth of the sword, and I am escaped -- only I alone -- to declare to thee.'
[bbe] And this one was still talking when another came, and said, The Chaldaeans made themselves into three bands, and came down on the camels and took them away, putting the young men to the sword, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.

[bbe] And this one was still talking when another came, and said, Your sons and your daughters were feasting together in their oldest brother's house,

[cbgb] 不料,有狂风从旷野刮来,击打房屋的四角,房屋倒塌在少年人身上,他们就都死了。惟有我一人逃脱,来报信给你。 < | >
[niv] when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"
[asv] and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
[jnd] and behold, there came a great wind from over the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they died; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.
