[niv] Then Israel made this vow to the LORD: "If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy their cities."
[asv] And Israel vowed a vow unto Jehovah, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

[niv] The LORD listened to Israel's plea and gave the Canaanites over to them. They completely destroyed them and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.
[asv] And Jehovah hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and the name of the place was called Hormah.

[niv] They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

[niv] they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!"
[asv] And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

[niv] The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people.
[asv] And the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, because we have spoken against Jehovah, and against thee; pray unto Jehovah, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

[bbe] Then the people came to Moses and said, We have done wrong in crying out against the Lord and against you: make prayer to the Lord to take away the snakes from us. So Moses made prayer for the people.
21:8
[cbgb] 耶和华对摩西说,你制造一条火蛇,挂在杆子上。凡被咬的,一望这蛇,就必得活。 < | >
[niv] The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live."
[asv] And Jehovah said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a standard: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he seeth it, shall live.
[jnd] And Jehovah said to Moses, Make thee a fiery , and set it upon a pole; and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, and looketh upon it, shall live.

[niv] So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.
[asv] And Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it upon the standard: and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked unto the serpent of brass, he lived.
[jnd] And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, if a serpent had bitten any man, and he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

[niv] They set out from there and camped alongside the Arnon, which is in the desert extending into Amorite territory. The Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
[asv] From thence they journeyed, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness, that cometh out of the border of the Amorites: for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
[jnd] From thence they removed, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites. For the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

[niv] That is why the Book of the Wars of the LORD says: "... Waheb in Suphah and the ravines, the Arnon

[niv] and the slopes of the ravines that lead to the site of Ar and lie along the border of Moab."

[niv] From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the LORD said to Moses, "Gather the people together and I will give them water."
[asv] And from thence they journeyed to Beer: that is the well whereof Jehovah said unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
[jnd] And from thence to Beer: that is the well of which Jehovah spoke to Moses, Assemble the people, and I will give them water.
