[niv] The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: `When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God,
[asv] The God of Israel said,  The Rock of Israel spake to me:  One that ruleth over men righteously,  That ruleth in the fear of God,  
[jnd] The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me, The ruler among men shall be just, Ruling in the fear of God;

[niv] he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.'
[asv] He shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth,  A morning without clouds,  When the tender grass springeth out of the earth,  Through clear shining after rain.  
[jnd] And as the light or the morning, the rising of the sun, A morning without clouds; from the sunshine, after rain, The green grass springeth from the earth.
[kjv] And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

[niv] "Is not my house right with God? Has he not made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part? Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire?
[asv] Verily my house is not so with God;  Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant,  Ordered in all things, and sure:  For it is all my salvation, and all my desire,  Although he maketh it not to grow.  
[jnd] Although my house be not so before 鵊od, Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in every way and sure; For all my salvation, and every desire, Although he make not to grow.

[niv] But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns, which are not gathered with the hand.
[asv] But the ungodly shall be all of them as thorns to be thrust away,  Because they cannot be taken with the hand  
[jnd] But of Belial all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands;
[kjv] But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

[rsv] But godless men are all like thorns that are thrown away; for they cannot be taken with the hand;

[bbe] But the evil-doers, all of them, will be like thorns to be pushed away, because they may not be gripped in the hand:

[niv] Whoever touches thorns uses a tool of iron or the shaft of a spear; they are burned up where they lie."
[asv] But the man that toucheth them  Must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear:  And they shall be utterly burned with fire in their place

[niv] These are the names of David's mighty men: Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
[asv] These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite, against eight hundred slain at one time.
[jnd] These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chief of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he against eight hundred, slain at one time.
[kjv] These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

[niv] Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered for battle. Then the men of Israel retreated,
[asv] And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away.
[jnd] And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.
[kjv] And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
[nwb] And after him Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines were there assembled to battle, and the men of Israel had gone away:
[rsv] And next to him among the three mighty men was Elea'zar the son of Dodo, son of Aho'hi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel withdrew.

[bbe] After him was Eleazar, the son of Dodai the Ahohite, one of the three great fighters, who was with David in Pas-dammim when the Philistines came together there for the fight; and when the men of Israel had gone in flight,

[niv] but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead.
[asv] He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.
[jnd] He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
[kjv] He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

[ylt] he hath arisen, and smiteth among the Philistines till that his hand hath been weary, and his hand cleaveth unto the sword, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation on that day, and the people turn back after him only to strip off.
[bbe] He was with David and went on fighting the Philistines till his hand became tired and stiff from gripping his sword: and that day the Lord gave a great salvation, and the people came back after him only to take the goods of the Philistines.
23:11

[nwb] And after him Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were collected into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentils: and the people fled from the Philistines.
[rsv] And next to him was Shammah, the son of Agee the Har'arite. The Philistines gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the men fled from the Philistines.

[bbe] After him was Shammah, the son of Ela the Hararite. And the Philistines came together in Lehi, where there was a bit of land full of seed; and the people went in flight from the Philistines.

[niv] David longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!"
[asv] And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!
[jnd] And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me to drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate!

[niv] So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the LORD.
[asv] And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Jehovah.
[jnd] And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; however he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.

[bbe] And the three men, forcing their way through the Philistine army, got water from the water-hole of Beth-lehem, by the doorway into the town, and took it back to David: but he would not take it, but, draining it out, made an offering of it to the Lord.
23:17
[cbgb] 说,耶和华阿,这三个人冒死去打水。这水好像他们的血一般,我断不敢喝。如此,大卫不肯喝。这是三个勇士所作的事。 < | >
[niv] "Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this!" he said. "Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?" And David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.
[asv] And he said, Be it far from me, O Jehovah, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
[jnd] And he said, Be it far from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the blood of the men that went at the risk of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
