[niv] When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic, they became very quiet. Then Paul said:
[asv] And when they heard that he spake unto them in the Hebrew language, they were the more quiet: and he saith,

[niv] "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. Under Gamaliel I was thoroughly trained in the law of our fathers and was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.
[asv] I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, instructed according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God, even as ye all are this day:
[jnd] *I* am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to exactness of the law of fathers, being zealous for God, as *ye* are all this day;

[niv] I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison,
[asv] and I persecuted this Way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

[cbgb] 这是大祭司和众长老都可以给我作见证的。我又领了他们达与兄弟的书信，往大马色去，要把在那里奉这道的人锁拿，带到耶路撒冷受刑。 < | >
[niv] as also the high priest and all the Council can testify. I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.
[asv] As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and journeyed to Damascus to bring them also that were there unto Jerusalem in bonds to be punished.
[jnd] as also the high priest bears me witness, and all the elderhood: from whom also, having received letters to the brethren, I went to Damascus to bring those also who were there, bound, to Jerusalem, to be punished.
[kjv] As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

[ylt] as also the chief priest doth testify to me, and all the eldership; from whom also having received letters unto the brethren, to Damascus, I was going on, to bring also those there bound to Jerusalem that they might be punished,
[bbe] Of which the high priest will be a witness, and all the rulers, from whom I had letters to the brothers; and I went into Damascus, to take those who were there as prisoners to Jerusalem for punishment.

[niv] "About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me.
[asv] And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and drew nigh unto Damascus, about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
[jnd] And it came to pass, as I was journeying and drawing near to Damascus, that, about mid-day, there suddenly shone out of heaven a great light round about me.
[kjv] And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
[nwb] And it came to pass, that as I was passing on my journey, and had come nigh to Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light around me.
[rsv] "As I made my journey and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone about me.
[web] It happened that, as I made my journey, and came close to Damascus, about noon, suddenly there shone from the sky a great light around me.
[ylt] and it came to pass, in my going on and coming nigh to Damascus, about noon, suddenly out of the heaven there shone a great light round about me,
[bbe] And it came about that while I was on my journey, coming near to Damascus, about the middle of the day, suddenly I saw a great light from heaven shining round me.

[niv] I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, `Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?'
[asv] And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
[jnd] And I fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

[bbe] And when I went down on the earth, a voice came to my ears saying to me, Saul, Saul, why are you attacking me so cruelly?

[niv] "`Who are you, Lord?' I asked. "`I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,' he replied.
[asv] And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
[jnd] And *I* answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said to me, *I* am Jesus the Nazaraean, whom *thou* persecutest.

[nwb] And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said to me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

[ylt] `And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? and he said unto me, I am Jesus the Nazarene whom thou dost persecute --
[bbe] And I, answering, said, Who are you; Lord? And he said to me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are attacking.

[niv] My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.
[asv] And they that were with me beheld indeed the light, but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
[jnd] But they that were with me beheld the light, , but heard not the voice of him that was speaking to me.
[kjv] And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

[bbe] And those who were with me saw the light, but the voice of him who was talking to me came not to their ears.

[niv] "`What shall I do, Lord?' I asked. "`Get up,' the Lord said, `and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.'
[asv] And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
[jnd] And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said to me, Rise up, and go to Damascus, and there it shall be told thee of all things which it is appointed thee to do.
[kjv] And I said, What shall I do, LORD? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
[nwb] And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said to me, Arise, and go into Damascus, and there it shall be told thee concerning all things which are appointed for thee to do.
[rsv] And I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.'
[web] I said, 'What will I do, Lord?' The Lord said to me, 'Arise, and go into Damascus. There you will be told about all things which are appointed for you to do.'
[ylt] and I said, What shall I do, Lord? and the Lord said unto me, Having risen, go on to Damascus, and there it shall be told thee concerning all things that have been appointed for thee to do.
[bbe] And I said, What have I to do, Lord? And the Lord said to me, Get up, and go into Damascus; and it will be made clear to you what you have to do.
22:11
[cbgb] 我因那光的荣耀，不能看见，同行的人，就拉着我手进了大马色。 < | >
[niv] My companions led me by the hand into Damascus, because the brilliance of the light had blinded me.
[asv] And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me I came into Damascus.
[jnd] And as I could not see, through the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came to Damascus.
[kjv] And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
[nwb] And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
[rsv] And when I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

[niv] "A man named Ananias came to see me. He was a devout observer of the law and highly respected by all the Jews living there.

[jnd] And a certain Ananias, a pious man according to the law, borne witness to by all the Jews who dwelt ,
[kjv] And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

[rsv] "And one Anani'as, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there,

[niv] He stood beside me and said, `Brother Saul, receive your sight!' And at that very moment I was able to see him.
[asv] came unto me, and standing by me said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And in that very hour I looked up on him.
[jnd] coming to me and standing by me, said to me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And *I*, in the same hour, received my sight and saw him.
[kjv] Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
[nwb] Came to me, and stood, and said to me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
[rsv] came to me, and standing by me said to me, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight.' And in that very hour I received my sight and saw him.
[web] came to me, and standing by me said to me, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight!' In that very hour I looked up at him.
[ylt] having come unto me and stood by , said to me, Saul, brother, look up; and I the same hour did look up to him;
[bbe] Came to my side and said, Brother Saul, let your eyes be open. And in that very hour I was able to see him.

[niv] "Then he said: `The God of our fathers has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth.
[asv] And he said, The God of our fathers hath appointed thee to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.
[jnd] And he said, The God of our fathers has chosen thee beforehand to know his will, and to see the just one, and to hear a voice out of his mouth;
[kjv] And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
[nwb] And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldst know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldst hear the voice of his mouth.
[rsv] And he said, 'The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Just One and to hear a voice from his mouth;

[niv] You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.

[niv] "When I returned to Jerusalem and was praying at the temple, I fell into a trance
[asv] And it came to pass, that, when I had returned to Jerusalem, and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance,
[jnd] And it came to pass when I had returned to Jerusalem, and as I was praying in the temple, that I became in ecstasy,
[kjv] And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

[niv] and saw the Lord speaking. `Quick!' he said to me. `Leave Jerusalem immediately, because they will not accept your testimony about me.'
[asv] and saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem; because they will not receive of thee testimony concerning me.
[jnd] and saw him saying to me, Make haste and go quickly out of Jerusalem, for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

[bbe] And I saw him saying to me, Go out of Jerusalem straight away because they will not give hearing to your witness about me.

[niv] "`Lord,' I replied, `these men know that I went from one synagogue to another to imprison and beat those who believe in you.
[asv] And I said, Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
[jnd] And *I* said, Lord, they themselves know that *I* was imprisoning and beating in every synagogue those that believe on thee;
[kjv] And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
[nwb] And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
[rsv] And I said, 'Lord, they themselves know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in thee.

[ylt] and I said, Lord, they -- they know that I was imprisoning and was scourging in every synagogue those believing on thee;
[bbe] And I said, Lord, they themselves have knowledge that I went through the Synagogues putting in prison and whipping all those who had faith in you:

[cbgb] 并且你的见证人司提反，被害流血的时候，我也站在旁边欢喜。又看守害死他之人的衣裳。 < | >
[niv] And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.'
[asv] and when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting, and keeping the garments of them that slew him.
[jnd] and when the blood of thy witness Stephen was shed, I also myself was standing by and consenting, and kept the clothes of them who killed him.
[kjv] And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
[nwb] And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting to his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
[rsv] And when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I also was standing by and approving, and keeping the garments of those who killed him.'

[ylt] and when the blood of thy witness Stephen was being poured forth, I also was standing by and assenting to his death, and keeping the garments of those putting him to death;
[bbe] And when Stephen your witness was put to death, I was there, giving approval, and looking after the clothing of those who put him to death.
22:21

[niv] "Then the Lord said to me, `Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'"
[asv] And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee forth far hence unto the Gentiles.

[niv] The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted, "Rid the earth of him! He's not fit to live!"
[asv] And they gave him audience unto this word; and they lifted up their voice, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
[jnd] And they heard him until this word, and lifted up their voice, saying, Away with such a one as that from the earth, for it was not fit he should live.

[niv] Then the commander said, "I had to pay a big price for my citizenship." "But I was born a citizen," Paul replied.
[asv] And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this citizenship. And Paul said, But I am a Roman born.
[jnd] And the chiliarch answered, *I*, for a great sum, bought this citizenship. And Paul said, But *I* was also born.
[kjv] And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.
[nwb] And the chief captain answered, With a great sum I obtained this freedom. And Paul said, But I was born.

[niv] The next day, since the commander wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews, he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them.
[asv] But on the morrow, desiring to know the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him, and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.
