[niv] The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.

[niv] "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

[niv] So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.

[asv] And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

[bbe] And the Lord came to Abram, and said, I will give all this land to your seed; then Abram made an altar there to the Lord who had let himself be seen by him.
12:8

[bbe] And moving on from there to the mountain on the east of Beth-el, he put up his tent, having Beth-el on the west and Ai on the east: and there he made an altar and gave worship to the name of the Lord.

[niv] Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.

[niv] When the Egyptians see you, they will say, `This is his wife.' Then they will kill me but will let you live.

[niv] Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you."
[asv] Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister; that it may be well with me for thy sake, and that my soul may live because of thee.

[niv] But the LORD inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai.
[asv] And Jehovah plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

[niv] So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife?

[niv] Why did you say, `She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!"
[asv] why saidst thou, She is my sister, so that I took her to be my wife? now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
