[niv] And she added, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age."

[niv] and she said to Abraham, "Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac."
[asv] Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son. For the son of this handmaid shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
[jnd] And she said to Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid shall not inherit with my son -- with Isaac.

[niv] But God said to him, "Do not be so distressed about the boy and your maidservant. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.
[asv] And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy handmaid. In all that Sarah saith unto thee, hearken unto her voice. For in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
[jnd] And God said to Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah hath said to thee hearken to her voice, for in Isaac shall a seed be called to thee.

[web] God said to Abraham, "Don't let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your handmaid. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Isaac will your seed be called.
[ylt] and God saith unto Abraham, `Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee -- hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.
[bbe] But God said, Let it not be a grief to you because of the boy and Hagar his mother; give ear to whatever Sarah says to you, because it is from Isaac that your seed will take its name.
21:13

[niv] I will make the son of the maidservant into a nation also, because he is your offspring."

[niv] Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the desert of Beersheba.
[asv] And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave her the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

[niv] Then she went off and sat down nearby, about a bowshot away, for she thought, "I cannot watch the boy die." And as she sat there nearby, she began to sob.
[asv] And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot. For she said, Let me not look upon the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.
[jnd] and she went and sat down over against , a bow-shot off; for she said, Let me not behold the death of the child. And she sat over against , and lifted up her voice and wept.

[bbe] And she went some distance away, about an arrow flight, and seating herself on the earth, she gave way to bitter weeping, saying, Let me not see the death of my child.
21:17

[niv] God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
[asv] And God heard the voice of the lad. And the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not. For God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
[jnd] And God heard the voice of the lad. And the Angel of God called to Hagar from the heavens, and said to her, What thee, Hagar? Fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad there, where he is.

[ylt] And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he ;
[bbe] And the boy's cry came to the ears of God; and the angel of God said to Hagar from heaven, Hagar, why are you weeping? have no fear, for the child's cry has come to the ears of God.
21:18

[niv] Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation."

[niv] Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.

[niv] God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer.

[web] . It happened at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his host spoke to Abraham, saying, "God is with you in all that you do.
[ylt] And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh -- Phichol also, head of his host -- unto Abraham, saying, `God with thee in all that thou art doing;
[bbe] Now at that time, Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, said to Abraham, I see that God is with you in all you do.
21:23
[cbgb] 我愿你如今在这里指着　神对我起誓，不要欺负我与我的儿子，并我的子孙。我怎样厚待了你，你也要照样厚待我与你所寄居这地的民。 < | >
[niv] Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants. Show to me and the country where you are living as an alien the same kindness I have shown to you."
[asv] Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son. But according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
[jnd] And now swear to me here by God that thou wilt not deal deceitfully with me, nor with my son, nor with my grandson. According to the kindness that I have done to thee, thou shalt do to me, and to the land in which thou sojournest.

[bbe] Now, then, give me your oath, in the name of God, that you will not be false to me or to my sons after me, but that as I have been good to you, so you will be to me and to this land where you have been living.

[niv] But Abimelech said, "I don't know who has done this. You did not tell me, and I heard about it only today."

[bbe] But Abimelech said, I have no idea who has done this thing; you never gave me word of it, and I had no knowledge of it till this day.
