[niv] In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest:
[asv] In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

[niv] This is what the LORD Almighty says: "These people say, `The time has not yet come for the LORD's house to be built.'"
[asv] Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, It is not the time for us to come, the time for Jehovah's house to be built.
[jnd] Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that Jehovah's house should be built.
[kjv] Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.

[ylt] Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: This people! -- they have said, `The time hath not come, The time the house of Jehovah to be built.'
[bbe] These are the words of the Lord of armies: These people say, The time has not come for building the Lord's house.

[cbgb] 这殿仍然荒凉，你们自己还住天花板的房屋麽？ < | >
[niv] "Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?"
[asv] Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your ceiled houses, while this house lieth waste?
[jnd] Is it time for you that ye should dwell in your wainscoted houses, while this house lieth waste?
[kjv] Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
[nwb] time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house waste?

[niv] Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways.
[asv] Now therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.

[cbgb] 你们撒的种多，收的却少。你们吃，却不得饱。喝，却不得足。穿衣服，却不得暖。得工钱的，将工钱装在破漏的囊中。 < | >
[niv] You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it."
[asv] Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

[niv] Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored," says the LORD.
[asv] Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah.

[cbgb] 你们盼望多得，所得的却少。你们收到家中，我就吹去。这是为什么呢，因为我的殿荒凉，你们各人却顾（原文作奔）自己的房屋。这是万军之耶和华说的。 < | >
[niv] "You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the LORD Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house.
[asv] Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, while ye run every man to his own house.
[jnd] Ye looked for much, and behold it was little; and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. Wherefore? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, whilst ye run every man to his own house.

[ylt] Looking for much, and lo, little, And ye brought home, and I blew on it, Wherefore? -- an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Because of My house that is waste, And ye are running -- each to his house,
[bbe] You were looking for much, and it came to little; and when you got it into your house, I took it away with a breath. Why? says the Lord of armies. Because of my house which is a waste, while every man takes care of the house which is his.

[cbgb] 所以为你们的缘故，天就不降甘露，地也不出土产。 < | >
[niv] Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops.
[asv] Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.
[jnd] Therefore over you the heavens withhold their dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.
[kjv] Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
[nwb] Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed her fruit.
[rsv] Therefore the heavens above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce.

[ylt] Therefore, over you refrained have the heavens from dew, And the land hath refrained its increase.
[bbe] For this cause the heaven over you is kept from giving dew, and the earth from giving her fruit.

[cbgb] 我命乾旱临到地土，山冈，五谷，新酒，和油，并地上的出产，人民，牲畜，以及人手一切劳碌得来的。 < | >
[niv] I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the oil and whatever the ground produces, on men and cattle, and on the labor of your hands."
[asv] And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.

[niv] Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. And the people feared the LORD.
[asv] Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him; and the people did fear before Jehovah.
[jnd] And Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, according as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people feared before Jehovah.

[bbe] Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the rest of the people, gave ear to the voice of the Lord their God and to the words of Haggai the prophet, because the Lord their God had sent him, and the people were in fear before the Lord.

[cbgb] 耶和华的使者哈该，奉耶和华差遣对百姓说，耶和华说，我与你们同在。 < | >
[niv] Then Haggai, the LORD's messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: "I am with you," declares the LORD.
[asv] Then spake Haggai Jehovah's messenger in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
[jnd] Then spoke Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
[kjv] Then spake Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
[nwb] Then spoke Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message to the people, saying, I with you, saith the LORD.
[rsv] Then Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, spoke to the people with the LORD's message, "I am with you, says the LORD."
[web] . Then Haggai, Yahweh's messenger, spoke in Yahweh's message to the people, saying, "I am with you," says Yahweh.
[ylt] And Haggai, messenger of Jehovah, in messages of Jehovah, speaketh to the people, saying: `I with you, an affirmation of Jehovah.'
[bbe] Then Haggai, whom the Lord had sent to give his words to the people, said, I am with you, says the Lord.

[niv] So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God,
[asv] And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
[jnd] And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked at the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,

[ylt] And Jehovah doth stir up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they come in, and do work in the house of Jehovah of Hosts their God,
[bbe] And the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, was moved by the Lord, as was the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of armies, their God.
