[niv] Later on, at the time of wheat harvest, Samson took a young goat and went to visit his wife. He said, "I'm going to my wife's room." But her father would not let him go in.
[asv] But it came to pass after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
[jnd] And it came to pass after a time, in the days of the wheat-harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid of the goats. And he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber; but her father would not suffer him to go in.

[bbe] Now a short time after, at the time of the grain-cutting, Samson, taking with him a young goat, went to see his wife; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the bride's room. But her father would not let him go in.

[niv] "I was so sure you thoroughly hated her," he said, "that I gave her to your friend. Isn't her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead."
[asv] And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.

[web] Her father said, I most assuredly thought that you had utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion: isn't her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please take her, instead.
[ylt] and her father saith, I certainly said, that thou didst certainly hate her, and I give her to thy companion; is not her sister -- the young one -- better than she? Let her be, I pray thee, to thee, instead of her.'
[bbe] And her father said, It seemed to me that you had only hate for her; so I gave her to your friend: but is not her younger sister fairer than she? so please take her in place of the other.
15:3

[niv] Samson said to them, "This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them."
[asv] And Samson said unto them, This time shall I be blameless in regard of the Philistines, when I do them a mischief.
[jnd] And Samson said to them, This time I am blameless toward the Philistines, though I do them harm.
[kjv] And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.

[rsv] And Samson said to them, "This time I shall be blameless in regard to the Philistines, when I do them mischief."

[ylt] And Samson saith of them, `I am more innocent this time than the Philistines, though I am doing with them evil.'
[bbe] Then Samson said to them, This time I will give payment in full to the Philistines, for I am going to do them great evil.
15:4

[niv] So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails,
[asv] And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between every two tails.

[niv] lit the torches and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves.
[asv] And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the oliveyards.
[jnd] And he set the torches on fire, and let run into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, and the olive gardens.
[kjv] And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
[nwb] And when he had set the brands on fire, he let go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks and also the standing corn, with the vineyards olives.
[rsv] And when he had set fire to the torches, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up the shocks and the standing grain, as well as the olive orchards.

[ylt] and kindleth fire in the torches, and sendeth out into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burneth from heap even unto standing corn, even unto vineyard -- olive-yard.
[bbe] Then firing the sticks, he let the foxes loose among the uncut grain of the Philistines, and all the corded stems as well as the living grain and the vine-gardens and the olives went up in flames.
15:6

[niv] When the Philistines asked, "Who did this?" they were told, "Samson, the Timnite's son-in-law, because his wife was given to his friend." So the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death.
[asv] Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they said, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
[jnd] And the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they answered, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire.

[ylt] And the Philistines say, `Who hath done this?' And they say, `Samson, son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken away his wife, and giveth her to his companion;' and the Philistines go up, and burn her and her father with fire.
[bbe] Then the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they said, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his friend. So the Philistines came up and had her and her father's house burned.
15:7
[cbgb] 参孙对非利士人说，你们既然这样行，我必向你们报仇才肯吧休。 < | >
[niv] Samson said to them, "Since you've acted like this, I won't stop until I get my revenge on you."
[asv] And Samson said unto them, If ye do after this manner, surely I will be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
[jnd] And Samson said to them, If ye act thus, for a certainty I will avenge myself on you, and then I will cease.
[kjv] And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
[nwb] And Samson said to them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
[rsv] And Samson said to them, "If this is what you do, I swear I will be avenged upon you, and after that I will quit."
[web] Samson said to them, If you do after this manner, surely I will be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
[ylt] And Samson saith to them, `Though ye do thus, nevertheless I am avenged on you, and afterwards I cease!'
[bbe] And Samson said to them, If you go on like this, truly I will take my full payment from you; and that will be the end of it.

[niv] He attacked them viciously and slaughtered many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam.
[asv] And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam.

[niv] The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spreading out near Lehi.

[niv] The men of Judah asked, "Why have you come to fight us?" "We have come to take Samson prisoner," they answered, "to do to him as he did to us."
[asv] And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they said, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
[jnd] And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they said, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he has done to us.

[cbgb] 于是有三千犹大人下到以坦磐的穴内，对参孙说，非利士人辖制我们，你不知道麽？你向我们行的是什么事呢？他回答说，他们向我怎样行，我也要向他们怎样行。 < | >
[niv] Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Don't you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? What have you done to us?" He answered, "I merely did to them what they did to me."
[asv] Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what then is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
[jnd] Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the cliff Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines rule over us? And what is this that thou hast done to us? And he said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.

[bbe] Then three thousand of the men of Judah went down to the crack of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, Is it not clear to you that the Philistines are our rulers? What is this you have done to us? And he said to them, I only did to them as they did to me.
15:12

[niv] They said to him, "We've come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines." Samson said, "Swear to me that you won't kill me yourselves."
[asv] And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
[jnd] And they said to him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may give thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me that ye will not fall on me yourselves.
[kjv] And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
[nwb] And they said to him, We have come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

[ylt] And they say to him, `To bind thee we have come down -- to give thee into the hand of the Philistines.' And Samson saith to them, `Swear to me, lest ye fall upon me yourselves.'
[bbe] Then they said to him, We have come down to take you and give you up into the hands of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Give me your oath that you will not make an attack on me yourselves.
15:13

[niv] "Agreed," they answered. "We will only tie you up and hand you over to them. We will not kill you." So they bound him with two new ropes and led him up from the rock.
[asv] And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.
[jnd] And they spoke to him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand; but we certainly shall not put thee to death. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the cliff.
[kjv] And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

[bbe] And they said, No; we will take you and give you up into their hands, but truly we will not put you to death. So knotting two new cords round him they took him up from the rock.
15:14
[cbgb] 参孙到了利希，非利士人都迎着喧囔。耶和华的灵大大感动参孙，他臂上的绳就像火烧的麻一样，他的绑绳都从他手上脱落下来。 < | >
[niv] As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax, and the bindings dropped from his hands.
[asv] When he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him: and the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon him, and the ropes that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands dropped from off his hands.
[jnd] When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him. And the Spirit of Jehovah came upon him, and the cords that were on his arms became as threads of flax that are burned with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
[kjv] And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
[nwb] when he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his the hands.
[rsv] When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the ropes which were on his arms became as flax that has caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands.
[web] When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him: and the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands dropped from off his hands.
[ylt] He hath come unto Lehi -- and the Philistines have shouted at meeting him -- and the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and the thick bands which on his arms are as flax which they burn with fire, and his bands are wasted from off his hands,
[bbe] And when he came to Lehi, the Philistines came out, meeting him with loud cries; then the spirit of the Lord came rushing on him, and the cords on his arms became like grass which has been burned with fire, and the bands came falling off his hands.
15:15

[niv] Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.
[asv] And he found a fresh jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and smote a thousand men therewith.
[jnd] And he found a fresh jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand and took it, and slew with it a thousand men.
[kjv] And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
[nwb] And he found a fresh jaw-bone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men with it.
[rsv] And he found a fresh jawbone of an ass, and put out his hand and seized it, and with it he slew a thousand men.
[web] He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put forth his hand, and took it, and struck a thousand men therewith.
[ylt] and he findeth a fresh jaw-bone of an ass, and putteth forth his hand and taketh it, and smiteth with it -- a thousand men.
[bbe] And taking up the mouth-bone of an ass newly dead, which he saw by chance on the earth, he put to death a thousand men with it.
15:16
[cbgb] 参孙说，我用驴腮骨杀人成堆，用驴腮骨杀了一千人。 < | >
[niv] Then Samson said, "With a donkey's jawbone I have made donkeys of them. With a donkey's jawbone I have killed a thousand men."
[asv] And Samson said,  With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps,  With the jawbone of an ass have I smitten a thousand men.
[jnd] And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, a heap, two heaps, With the jawbone of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
[kjv] And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
[nwb] And Samson said, With the jaw-bone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
[rsv] And Samson said, "With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of an ass have I slain a thousand men."
[web] Samson said, With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps on heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.
[ylt] And Samson saith, `With a jaw-bone of the ass -- an ass upon asses -- with a jaw-bone of the ass I have smitten a thousand men.'
[bbe] And Samson said, With a red ass's mouth-bone I have made them red with blood, with a red ass's mouth-bone I have sent destruction on a thousand men.

[niv] When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone; and the place was called Ramath Lehi.
[asv] And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi.
[jnd] And it came to pass when he had ended speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-Lehi.

[web] It happened, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi.
[ylt] And it cometh to pass when he finisheth speaking, that he casteth away the jaw-bone out of his hand, and calleth that place Ramath-Lehi;
[bbe] And having said these words, he let the mouth-bone go out of his hand; so that place was named Ramath-lehi.
15:18
[cbgb] 参孙甚觉口渴，就求告耶和华说，你既藉仆人的手施行这麽大的拯救，岂可任我渴死，落在未受割礼的人手中呢？ < | >
[niv] Because he was very thirsty, he cried out to the LORD, "You have given your servant this great victory. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?"
[asv] And he was sore athirst, and called on Jehovah, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant; and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised.
[jnd] And he was very thirsty, and called on Jehovah, and said, Thou hast given by the hand of thy servant this great deliverance, and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?

[ylt] and he thirsteth exceedingly, and calleth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Thou -- Thou hast given by the hand of Thy servant this great salvation; and now, I die with thirst, and have fallen into the hand of the uncircumcised.'
[bbe] After this, he was in great need of water, and crying out to the Lord, he said, You have given this great salvation by the hand of your servant, and now need of water will be my death; and I will be given into the hands of this people who are without circumcision.

[niv] Then God opened up the hollow place in Lehi, and water came out of it. When Samson drank, his strength returned and he revived. So the spring was called En Hakkore, and it is still there in Lehi.
[asv] But God clave the hollow place that is in Lehi, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore the name thereof was called En-hakkore, which is in Lehi, unto this day.
[jnd] And God clave the hallow rock which was in Lehi, and water came out of it. And he drank, and his spirit came again, and he revived. Therefore its name was called En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.

[bbe] Then God made a crack in the hollow rock in Lehi and water came out of it; and after drinking, his spirit came back to him and he was strong again; so that place was named En-hakkore; it is in Lehi to this day.
