[bbe] Now Abimelech, the son of Jerubbaal, went to Shechem to his mother's family, and said to them and to all the family of his mother's father,
9:2
[cbgb] 请你们问示剑的众人说,是耶路巴力的众子七十人都管理你们好呢?还是一人管理你们好呢?你们又要记念我是你们的骨肉。 < | >
[niv] "Ask all the citizens of Shechem, `Which is better for you: to have all seventy of Jerub-Baal's sons rule over you, or just one man?' Remember, I am your flesh and blood."
[asv] Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are threescore and ten persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
[jnd] Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the citizens of Shechem, Which is better for you, that seventy persons, all sons of Jerubbaal, rule over you, or that one man rule over you? And remember that I am your bone and your flesh.
[kjv] Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
[nwb] Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Which better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, seventy persons, should reign over you, or that one should reign over you? remember also that I your bone and your flesh.
[rsv] "Say in the ears of all the citizens of Shechem, 'Which is better for you, that all seventy of the sons of Jerubba'al rule over you, or that one rule over you?' Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh."
[web] Please speak in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you? Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
[ylt] `Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the masters of Shechem, Which good for you -- the ruling over you of seventy men (all the sons of Jerubbaal), or the ruling over you of one man? -- and ye have remembered that I your bone and your flesh.'
[bbe] Say now in the ears of all the townsmen of Shechem, Is it better for you to be ruled by all the seventy sons of Jerubbaal or by one man only? And keep in mind that I am your bone and your flesh.
9:3
[cbgb] 他的众母舅便将这一切话为他说给示剑人听,示剑人的心就归向亚比米勒。他们说,他原是我们的弟兄。 < | >
[niv] When the brothers repeated all this to the citizens of Shechem, they were inclined to follow Abimelech, for they said, "He is our brother."
[asv] And his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
[jnd] And his mother's brethren spoke of him in the ears of all the citizens of Shechem all these words. And their heart inclined after Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
[kjv] And his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
[nwb] And his mother's brethren spoke of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He our brother.
[rsv] And his mother's kinsmen spoke all these words on his behalf in the ears of all the men of Shechem; and their hearts inclined to follow Abim'elech, for they said, "He is our brother."
[web] His mother's brothers spoke of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
[ylt] And his mother's brethren speak concerning him, in the ears of all the masters of Shechem, all these words, and their heart inclineth after Abimelech, for they said, `He our brother;'
[bbe] So his mother's family said all this about him in the ears of all the townsmen of Shechem: and their hearts were turned to Abimelech, for they said, He is our brother.
9:4
[cbgb] 就从巴力比利土的庙中取了七十舍客勒银子给亚比米勒。亚比米勒用以雇了些匪徒跟随他。 < | >
[niv] They gave him seventy shekels of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech used it to hire reckless adventurers, who became his followers.
[asv] And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-berith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light fellows, who followed him.
[jnd] And they gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech hired with them vain and wanton men, and they followed him.
[kjv] And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baalberith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him.
[nwb] And they gave him seventy of silver out of the house of Baal-berith, with which Abimelech hired vain and light persons, who followed him.

[bbe] And they gave him seventy shekels of silver from the house of Baal-berith, with which Abimelech got the support of a number of uncontrolled and good-for-nothing persons.

[niv] He went to his father's home in Ophrah and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerub-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerub-Baal, escaped by hiding.
[asv] And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: but Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.
[jnd] And he came to his father's house, to Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, seventy persons upon one stone; but there remained Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal; for he had hid himself.

[ylt] and he goeth into the house of his father at Ophrah, and slayeth his brethren, sons of Jerubbaal, seventy men, on one stone; and Jotham, youngest son of Jerubbaal, is left, for he was hidden.
[bbe] Then he went to his father's house at Ophrah, and put his brothers, the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, to death on the same stone; however, Jotham, the youngest, kept himself safe by going away to a secret place.
9:6

[niv] Then all the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo gathered beside the great tree at the pillar in Shechem to crown Abimelech king.
[asv] And all the men of Shechem assembled themselves together, and all the house of Millo, and went and made Abimelech king, by the oak of the pillar that was in Shechem.
[jnd] And all the citizens of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went and made Abimelech king, by the memorial-oak that is in Shechem.
[kjv] And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.

[web] All the men of Shechem assembled themselves together, and all the house of Millo, and went and made Abimelech king, by the oak of the pillar that was in Shechem.
[ylt] And all the masters of Shechem are gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and come and cause Abimelech to reign for king at the oak of the camp which in Shechem;
[bbe] And all the townsmen of Shechem and all Beth-millo came together and went and made Abimelech their king, by the oak of the pillar in Shechem.
9:7
[cbgb] 有人将这事告诉约坦,他就去站在基利心山顶上,向众人大声喊叫说,示剑人哪,你们要听我的话, 神也就听你们的话。 < | >
[niv] When Jotham was told about this, he climbed up on the top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, "Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.
[asv] And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.
[jnd] And they told it to Jotham, and he went and stood on the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said to them, Hearken to me, ye citizens of Shechem, that God may hearken to you.
[kjv] And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.
[nwb] And when they told to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice and cried, and said to them, Hearken to me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken to you.
[rsv] When it was told to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Ger'izim, and cried aloud and said to them, "Listen to me, you men of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
[web] When they told it to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said to them, Listen to me, you men of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
[ylt] and they declare to Jotham, and he goeth and standeth on the top of mount Gerizim, and lifteth up his voice, and calleth, and saith to them, `Hearken unto me, O masters of Shechem, and God doth hearken unto you:
[bbe] Now Jotham, on hearing of it, went to the top of Mount Gerizim, and crying out with a loud voice said to them, Give ear to me, you townsmen of Shechem, so that God may give ear to you.
9:8
[cbgb] 有一时树木要膏一树为王,管理他们,就去对橄榄树说,请你作我们的王。 < | >
[niv] One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, `Be our king.'
[asv] The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive-tree, Reign thou over us.
[jnd] The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive-tree, Reign over us.
[kjv] The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us.
[nwb] The trees went forth to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive-tree, Reign thou over us.

[bbe] One day the trees went out to make a king for themselves; and they said to the olive-tree, Be king over us.
9:9
[cbgb] 橄榄树回答说,我岂肯止住供奉 神和尊重人的油,飘摇在众树之上呢? < | >
[niv] "But the olive tree answered, `Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and men are honored, to hold sway over the trees?'
[asv] But the olive-tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to wave to and fro over the trees?
[jnd] And the olive-tree said to them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to wave over the trees?
[kjv] But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
[nwb] But the olive-tree said to them, Should I leave my fatness, with which by me they honor God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
[rsv] But the olive tree said to them, 'Shall I leave my fatness, by which gods and men are honored, and go to sway over the trees?'
[web] But the olive-tree said to them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?
[ylt] And the olive saith to them, Have I ceased from my fatness, by which they honour gods and men, that I have gone to stagger over the trees?
[bbe] But the olive-tree said to them, Am I to give up my wealth of oil, by which men give honour to God, and go waving over the trees?

[niv] "Next, the trees said to the fig tree, `Come and be our king.'
[asv] And the trees said to the fig-tree, Come thou, and reign over us.

[asv] But the fig-tree said unto them, Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave to and fro over the trees?
[jnd] But the fig-tree said to them, Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave over the trees?
[kjv] But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?
[nwb] But the fig-tree said to them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?
[rsv] But the fig tree said to them, 'Shall I leave my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to sway over the trees?'

[niv] "Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, `Come and be our king.'
[asv] Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.
[jnd] Then said all the trees to the thorn-bush, Come thou, reign over us.
[kjv] Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.
[nwb] Then said all the trees to the bramble, Come thou, reign over us.
[rsv] Then all the trees said to the bramble, 'Come you, and reign over us.'

[cbgb] 荆棘回答说,你们若诚诚实实地膏我为王,就要投在我的荫下。不然,愿火从荆棘里出来,烧灭利巴嫩的香柏树。 < | >
[niv] "The thornbush said to the trees, `If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!'
[asv] And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
[jnd] And the thorn-bush said to the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, come, put confidence in my shadow; but if not, fire shall come out of the thorn-bush and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
[kjv] And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
[nwb] And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, come put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
[rsv] And the bramble said to the trees, 'If in good faith you are anointing me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, let fire come out of the bramble and devour the cedars of Lebanon.'
[web] The bramble said to the trees, If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
[ylt] And the bramble saith unto the trees, If in truth ye are anointing me for king over you, come, take refuge in my shadow; and if not -- fire cometh out from the bramble, and devoureth the cedars of Lebanon.
[bbe] And the thorn said to the trees, If it is truly your desire to make me your king, then come and put your faith in my shade; and if not, may fire come out of the thorn, burning up the cedars of Lebanon.
9:16
[cbgb] 现在你们立亚比米勒为王,若按诚实正直善待耶路巴力和他的全家,这就是酬他的劳。 < | >
[niv] "Now if you have acted honorably and in good faith when you made Abimelech king, and if you have been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family, and if you have treated him as he deserves--
[asv] Now therefore, if ye have dealt truly and uprightly, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands
[jnd] Now therefore, if ye have dealt truly and sincerely in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and if ye have done to him according to the deserving of his hands;
[kjv] Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands;
[nwb] Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands:
[rsv] "Now therefore, if you acted in good faith and honor when you made Abim'elech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubba'al and his house, and have done to him as his deeds deserved--
[web] Now therefore, if you have dealt truly and righteously, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands
[ylt] `And, now, if in truth and in sincerity ye have acted, when ye make Abimelech king; and if ye have done good with Jerubbaal, and with his house; and if according to the deed of his hands ye have done to him --
[bbe] So now, if you have done truly and uprightly in making Abimelech king, and if you have done well to Jerubbaal and his house in reward for the work of his hands;

[cbgb] 从前我父冒死为你们争战,救了你们脱离米甸人的手。 < | >
[niv] and to think that my father fought for you, risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian
[asv] (for my father fought for you, and adventured his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:
[jnd] -- for my father fought for you, and endangered his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian;
[kjv] (For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:
[nwb] (For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you from the hand of Midian:
[rsv] for my father fought for you, and risked his life, and rescued you from the hand of Mid'ian;

[niv] (but today you have revolted against my father's family, murdered his seventy sons on a single stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his slave girl, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is your brother)--
[asv] and ye are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maid-servant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother);
[jnd] but ye are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, seventy men, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his handmaid, king over the citizens of Shechem, because he is your brother;

[cbgb] 你们如今若按诚实正直待耶路巴力和他的家,就空因亚比米勒得欢乐,他也空因你们得欢乐。 < | >
[niv] if then you have acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub-Baal and his family today, may Abimelech be your joy, and may you be his, too!

[niv] Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelech had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.
[asv] Thus God requited the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren;
[jnd] And God rendered back the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did to his father in slaying his seventy brethren.

[niv] God also made the men of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.
[asv] and all the wickedness of the men of Shechem did God requite upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
