[niv] "Even today my complaint is bitter; his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
[asv] Even to-day is my complaint rebellious:  My stroke is heavier than my groaning.

[asv] Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power?  Nay; but he would give heed unto me.

[niv] When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.
[asv] On the left hand, when he doth work, but I cannot behold him;  He hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him.    
[jnd] On the left hand, where he doth work, but I behold not; he hideth himself on the right hand, and I see not.

[niv] I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
[asv] I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips;  I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.  
[jnd] Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have laid up the words of his mouth more than the purpose of my own heart.

[niv] "But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases.
[asv] But he is in one mind, and who can turn him?  And what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

[niv] He carries out his decree against me, and many such plans he still has in store.
[asv] For he performeth that which is appointed for me:  And many such things are with him.

[asv] Therefore am I terrified at his presence;  When I consider, I am afraid of him.

[cbgb] 我的恐惧，不是因为黑暗，也不是因为幽暗蒙蔽我的脸。 <
[niv] Yet I am not silenced by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.
[asv] Because I was not cut off before the darkness,  Neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.  
[jnd] Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he hidden the gloom from me.
