[ylt] The man went away, and told the Jews that it is Jesus who made him whole,
[bbe] The man went away and said to the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
5:16
[cbgb] 所以犹太人逼迫耶稣,因为他在安息日作了这事。 < | >
[niv] So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him.
[asv] And for this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.
[jnd] And for this the Jews persecuted Jesus , because he had done these things on sabbath.
[kjv] And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
[nwb] And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
[rsv] And this was why the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did this on the sabbath.
[web] For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.
[ylt] and because of this were the Jews persecuting Jesus, and seeking to kill him, because these things he was doing on a sabbath.
[bbe] And for this reason the Jews were turned against Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
5:17
[cbgb] 耶稣就对他们说,我父作事到如今,我也作事。 < | >
[niv] Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working."

[jnd] But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto and I work.
[kjv] But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
[nwb] But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
[rsv] But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working still, and I am working."
[web] But Jesus answered them, "My Father is still working, so I am working, too."
[ylt] And Jesus answered them, `My Father till now doth work, and I work;'
[bbe] But his answer was: My Father is still working even now, and so I am working.
5:18
[cbgb] 所以犹太人越发想要杀他。因他不但犯了安息日,并且称 神为他的父,将自己和 神当作平等。 < | >
[niv] For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
[asv] For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only brake the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
[jnd] For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only violated the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.
[kjv] Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
[nwb] Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
[rsv] This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but also called God his Father, making himself equal with God.
[web] For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
[ylt] because of this, then, were the Jews seeking the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the sabbath, but he also called God his own Father, making himself equal to God.
[bbe] For this cause the Jews had an even greater desire to put Jesus to death, because not only did he not keep the Sabbath but he said God was his Father, so making himself equal with God.
5:19
[cbgb] 耶稣对他们说,我实实在在的告诉你们,子凭着自己不能作什么,惟有看见父所作的,子才能作。父所作的事,子也照样作。 < | >
[niv] Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
[asv] Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doeth, these the Son also doeth in like manner.
[jnd] Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself save whatever he sees the Father doing: for whatever things *he* does, these things also the Son does in like manner.
[kjv] Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
[nwb] Then answered Jesus, and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing by himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for whatever things he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
[rsv] Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, that the Son does likewise.
[web] Jesus therefore answered them, "Most assuredly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
[ylt] Jesus therefore responded and said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son is not able to do anything of himself, if he may not see the Father doing anything; for whatever things He may do, these also the Son in like manner doth;
[bbe] So Jesus made answer and said, Truly I say to you, The Son is not able to do anything himself; he is able to do only what he sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does the Son does it in the same way.
5:20
[cbgb] 爱子,将自己所作的一切事指给他看。还要将比这更大的事指给他看,叫你们希奇。 < | >
[niv] For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.
[asv] For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and greater works than these will he show him, that ye may marvel.
[jnd] For the Father loves the Son and shews him all things which he himself does; and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may wonder.
[kjv] For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
[nwb] For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
[rsv] For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all that he himself is doing; and greater works than these will he show him, that you may marvel.
[web] For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
[ylt] for the Father doth love the Son, and doth shew to him all things that He himself doth; and greater works than these He will shew him, that ye may wonder.
[bbe] For the Father has love for the Son and lets him see everything which he does: and he will let him see greater works than these so that you may be full of wonder.
5:21
[cbgb] 父怎样叫死人起来,使他们活着,子也照样随自己的意思使人活着。 < | >
[niv] For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.
[asv] For as the Father raiseth the dead and giveth them life, even so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.
[jnd] For even as the Father raises the dead and quickens , thus the Son also quickens whom he will:
[kjv] For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
[nwb] For as the Father raiseth the dead, and reviveth ; even so the Son reviveth whom he will.
[rsv] For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.
[web] For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
[ylt] `For, as the Father doth raise the dead, and doth make alive, so also the Son doth make alive whom he willeth;
[bbe] In the same way, as the Father gives life to the dead, even so the Son gives life to those to whom he is pleased to give it.
5:22
[cbgb] 父不审判什么人,乃将审判的事全交与子。 < | >
[niv] Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,
[asv] For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son;
[jnd] for neither does the Father judge any one, but has given all judgment to the Son;
[kjv] For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
[nwb] For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment to the Son:
[rsv] The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,
[web] For neither does the Father judge any man, but he has given all judgment to the Son,
[ylt] for neither doth the Father judge any one, but all the judgment He hath given to the Son,
[bbe] The Father is not the judge of men, but he has given all decisions into the hands of the Son;

[cbgb] 叫人都尊敬子,如同尊敬父一样。不尊敬子的,就是不尊敬差子来的父。 < | >
[niv] that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
[asv] that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him.
[jnd] that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who honours not the Son, honours not the Father who has sent him.
[kjv] That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
[nwb] That all should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.
[rsv] that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
[web] that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn't honor the Son doesn't honor the Father who sent him.
[ylt] that all may honour the Son according as they honour the Father; he who is not honouring the Son, doth not honour the Father who sent him.
[bbe] So that all men may give honour to the Son even as they give honour to the Father. He who gives no honour to the Son gives no honour to the Father who sent him.
5:24

[jnd] Verily, verily, I say unto you, that he that hears my word, and believes him that has sent me, has life eternal, and does not come into judgment, but is passed out of death into life.
[kjv] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
[nwb] Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life.
