[niv] Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonor.

[niv] The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.
[asv] The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary;  He hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces:  They have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as in the day of a solemn assembly.

[niv] My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within, my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city.
[asv] Mine eyes do fail with tears, my heart is troubled;  My liver is poured upon the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people,  Because the young children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.  
[jnd] Mine eyes are consumed with tears, my bowels are troubled; my liver is poured upon the earth, because of the ruin of the daughter of my people; because infant and suckling swoon in the streets of the city.

[niv] They say to their mothers, "Where is bread and wine?" as they faint like wounded men in the streets of the city, as their lives ebb away in their mothers' arms.
[asv] They say to their mothers, Where is grain and wine?  When they swoon as the wounded in the streets of the city,  When their soul is poured out into their mothers' bosom.

[niv] What can I say for you? With what can I compare you, O Daughter of Jerusalem? To what can I liken you, that I may comfort you, O Virgin Daughter of Zion? Your wound is as deep as the sea. Who can heal you?
[asv] What shall I testify unto thee? what shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem?  What shall I compare to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion?  For thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?  
[jnd] What shall I take to witness for thee? what shall I liken unto thee, daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, virgin daughter of Zion? For thy ruin is great as the sea: who will heal thee?

[niv] The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The oracles they gave you were false and misleading.
[asv] Thy prophets have seen for thee false and foolish visions;  And they have not uncovered thine iniquity, to bring back thy captivity,  But have seen for thee false oracles and causes of banishment.
